To fuel the inadequate water supply in the city and in the suburbs, the onset of the Surya Dam Project by the MMRDA may happen anytime soon. As a matter of fact, in a meeting done this Friday by the MMRDA, certain contractors were appointed and now the company of Larsen and Toubro has been entrusted for this project. The Metropolitan Commissioner told that the entire responsibility of this whole project will be shouldered by this company.
Further, the MMRDA has got the mandatory approval sanctioned for this project. On the other hand, the MMRDA has cited about seeking permission from the National Highway Authority of India so as to deploy a pipeline adjacent to the National Highway-8. The contractors will be building Water Resource Center, Water Treatment Center, and Water Purification Center for this project. Additionally, an 88-km pipeline will be built adjacent to the National Highway-8.
The total expenditure for this whole project amounts to Rs. 1329 crores and the MMRDA plans to complete it within a span of 3 years.
