Over the last few days, the number of coronavirus cases per day (in India) has been increasing exponentially as of June 26, the country witnessed the highest single-day jump with 17,296 coronavirus cases in one day, with 15,301 deaths. The ministry on June 26, released a report, which mentioned that 1,89,463 cases in India were currently active, and were receiving treatment across several states. Further, 85,637 patients had recovered. As of June 25 and the information released from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), 77,76,228 samples were tested in India

The state of Maharashtra has been affected the most due to the COVID-19 spread, with 1,47,741 cases reported so far, out of which 6,931 deaths have been reported. Gujarat has the highest mortality rate in the country which currently stands at 5.94 per cent, followed by Maharashtra at 4.69 per cent. Several containment zones in the state are currently under a lockdown until June 30, 2020. However, CM Uddhav Thackeray, earlier in June, announced the 'Mission Begin Again' initiative, where some restrictions were lifted for services to resume. Officials are now planning to permit some more businesses and service to start their duties from June 30, 2020, however, some parts of the state will have to follow the guidelines issued under Lockdown 6.0.
