The number of coronavirus cases in Maharashtra has been increasing exponentially, with the state recording more than 20,000 cases every day for the last few days. Data released by the state health department revealed that Maharashtra witnessed the highest-single day jump of coronavirus cases with 24,886 new cases identified on Friday, September 11, 2020. With this significant increase, the total number of cases in Maharashtra has crossed the one-million (ten lakh) mark and Maharashtra now has 10,15,681 cases with 28,724 deaths
The data further stated that 14,308 patients were discharged on September 11, 2020, and with this, a total of 7,15,023 COVID19 patients have been treated successfully in the state and given a discharge after full recovery. The current recovery rate in the state stands at 70.4 per cent.
As of Friday, 393 COVID-19 deaths were reported in the state, taking the case fatality rate to 2.83 per cent.
Furthermore, officials have tested a total of 50,72,521 laboratory samples, out of which 10,15,681 have been tested positive (20 per cent) until today. Currently, 16,47,742 people are in 'home quarantine' and 38,487 people are in the institutional quarantine, as per government guidelines.
Below are the number of cases reported from several districts across Maharashtra. Four divisions in the state - Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nashik - have the highest reported cases. Pune division leads the chart with more than 2 lakh cases, while others have more than one lakh cases each.
