Maharashtra: 272 passengers, who returned from Konkan, tested positive for COVID-19

According to the Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg District Collectorate, nearly 272 passengers who went to Konkan on the occasion of Ganeshotsav were infected with the coronavirus. They are undergoing treatment at hospitals currently. 

This year, on the occasion of Ganeshotsav, more than 2,17,000 devotees visited Konkan. Compared to that, the proportion of coronaviruses was said to be lower.

Out of 1,30,000 people who went to Ratnagiri district, 90,000 had tested positive despite being vaccinated fully. Moreover, of the remaining 40,000 travellers, nearly 20,000 of them were under 18 years of age. 

According to the information received from Sindhudurg District Collector's Office, 87,837 people arrived in the district by railway, ST and private vehicles. Out of them, 30,216 people had taken both vaccines. Around 20,000 people had tested negative. A medical examination revealed that 152 people had heart disease.

Every year, a large number of passengers go to Konkan on the occasion of Ganeshotsav. This year too, many people visited their village. For these passengers, MSRTC started 2200 extra trains for Konkan from Mumbai, Thane, Palghar district and Pune
