Coronavirus Outbreak: MU To Reschedule Its Exams

Earlier today, MU had announced that it will not reschedule its exams but later Aaditya Thackeray stated that it is compulsory for all institutes and universities to reschedule the examinations.

The State Government has asked schools and colleges across the city to reschedule their examinations amid the Coronavirus outbreak. They have further said that schools and other public places like gardens, malls, theatres etc. should be shut down. Earlier, Mumbai University (MU) had refused to reschedule its exams and have asked the affiliated colleges to conduct exams as per schedule but now they have been asked to follow this directive given the situation at hand.

Common Entrance Test (CET) examinations for Masters of Business Administration (MBA) were held on March 14 and 15 wherein the exam centres ensured that they were duly following hygiene and safety measures, as over 1.10 lakh students appeared for the exam over two days. However, over thousands of students from St. Xaviers College signed a petition wherein they have asked the authorities to reschedule the exams.  Some students who are appearing for their International English Level Testing System (IELTS) exams are also requesting to reschedule it. 

Currently there 39 cases that have tested positive in thr state. The state is trying to battle this outbreak at a war footing and taking every step possible to containthe spread. BEST buses and Mumbai locals are being sanitized. There are also efforts being made to ramp up the facilities. Earlier today, Aaditya Thackeray had also tweeted that Mirage and ITC Hotel in Mumbai will be opening up to travellers for isolation. Travellers will have to compulsorily be isolated for a minimum of 24 hours on arrival in Mumbai. 

In Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced that they have booked hotel near the airport I.e. Lemon Tree, IBIS and Red Fox and travellers to Delhi there will be in mandatory '14-day quarantine' in these. He further said that they have arranged sufficient beds if cases increase and hospitalisation is needed and the hotel bills will be paid by those who want better and luxury isolation during the quarantine.
