Mumbai reports 1,105 COVID-19 cases and 49 deaths in the last 24 hours

On Sunday, August 2, Mumbai clocked 1,105 fresh cases of the coronavirus and 49 new deaths, as per BMC's bulletin. The city also saw 393 new recoveries taking its cured tally to 88,299. Mumbai which has lower active cases than Thane now has 1,16,451 cases with 6,444 fatalities with 21,412 being active.

The city has been witnessing a steady rise in its recovery rate which stands at 76 per cent at the moment while its growth rise slowed to 0.90 per cent. BMC reported that 5,46,620 samples have been tested till date (9084 samples tested in 24 hours) with a 21.10 per cent positivity rate. According to data shared by the BMC, 136 of 1,069 ventilator beds were vacant, while 232 of 1,755 ICU beds were vacant.

On the other hand, the total number of cases in neighbouring Thane district touched 96,120, of which it has 31,929 active cases. The tally of active cases in Palghar stands at 6,187 while it is 3,362 in Nagpur.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra has reported 9,509 fresh cases of the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of confirmed cases to 4,41,228, according to the state health department.
