The state of Maharashtra is currently observing yet another lockdown until September 31, 2020, as coronavirus cases have seen a rise in several parts of the city, except Mumbai. The number of cases in the state's capital has reduced substantially, however, cases in other divisions have been increasing rapidly.
Data released by the state health department reveals that Maharashtra witnessed the highest single-day jump with 19,218 cases in one day taking the tally to 8,63,062 cases. Moreover, 13,289 patients recovered from the infection, taking the total number of recovered cases to 6,25,773. Currently, recovery rate of the state stands at 72.51 per cent, and more than 2-lakh patients are undergoing treatment, informed Health Minister Rajesh Tope.
Maharashtra also reported 378 COVID-19 deaths, on September 4, 2020, taking the count to 25,964 deaths, with a fatality rate of 3.01 per cent in the state.
Officials have tested 44,66,249 laboratory samples, out of which 19.32 per cent, i.e., 8,63,062 have been tested positive until today. Currently, 14,51,343 people in Maharashtra are under home quarantine and 36,873 people are in the institutional quarantine.
