The number of coronavirus cases in Maharastra and Mumbai has been increasing on a daily basis. On Wednesday, 158 people died due to the coronavirus. This has become a major concern for the state administration. 

Meanwhile, the administration in Mumbai has managed to gain some control over the COVID-19 deaths and increasing cases. Despite increasing coronavirus cases, the Maharashtra government recently allowed metro trains to operation from October 15 in Mumbai under ‘Mission Begin Again’. 

The rise in COVID-19 cases has been reported after the government eased lockdown restrictions. As per the data released by the public health department, on Wednesday, 48 COVID-19 patients died in Mumbai. 

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is making efforts to control the number of rising coronavirus cases in Mumbai. However, 2,211 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in the city. 

Nearly 20,0768 coronavirus patients have recovered in Mumbai till now while the total number of COVID-19 cases remain 2,34,602. As of October 15, the active cases in Mumbai are 23,828 and the death toll in the metropolitan has reached 9,555. 

On Wednesday, Maharashtra reported 10,552 new coronavirus patients and 158 deaths. However, nearly 19,517 coronavirus patients recovered and were discharged from the hospital. 

13,16,769 coronavirus patients in the state have recovered until now. The recovery rate in Maharashtra stands at 84.71 per cent. 

Out of 78,38,318 laboratory samples, 15,54,389 have been tested positive (19.83%) for COVID-19 until today. 

Currently, there are 23,80,957 people in home isolation in Maharashtra followed by 23,176 people are in institutional quarantine. The fatality rate in the state remains at 2.63 per cent.
