All shops to remain shut in Mira-Bhayander for four days

While the shops have been ordered to stay closed, the home delivery of essential services has been allowed between 9:00 am-5:00 pm. The medical stores have also been allowed to remain open

All shops to remain shut in Mira-Bhayander for four days

Starting today, all shops in Mira-Bhayander region will remain shut for four days. The move comes in the wake of the rise in the number of cases in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. On Sunday, Mumbai's COVID-19 tally had reached 2,724 cases and following which, the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC) ordered a total lockdown of the district.

As per the MBMC order, all shops including groceries, milk, meat, fruit & vegetable markets have been ordered to shut down. The medical stores have been allowed to remain open. While the shops have been ordered to stay closed, the home delivery of essential services has been allowed between 9:00 am-5:00 pm.

While all shops will remain close April 23, MBMC has stated that vehicles of essential service workers in government and non-government departments, police, hospital staff & goods will be allowed to move in and out of the area.

The civic body has also warned the people that anyone breaking the above order will be punished under the Maharashtra COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and has advised everyone to remain indoors. The state government had passed the Act on March 14 in order to deal with the pandemic. Currently, Mira-Bhayander has reported 71 cases till date, with two deaths.

As per the State Health Ministry, by April 19, Sunday, 72,023 tests had been carried out and 67,673 samples were tested negative across the state. Currently, 87,254 Maharashtra citizens have been home-quarantined whereas 6,743 people have been directed institutional quarantine. 

On Sunday, the state recorded 552 new cases of coronavirus, taking the tally of patients to over 4,200 by the end of the day. Among which, Mumbai reported 135 new cases and six deaths. The city's tally currently stands at 2,724 cases and 131 deaths.
