A male marsh crocodile that was seven-foot-long was rescued from the property of Suraj Water Park; Thane mentioned a report by the Indian Express. It is said that the staff’s park saw the crocodile at almost 5 am on Thursday. After which the authorities connected to the forest department and the NGO Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW) helpline.
Once the sighting was confirmed, a rescue team that entailed seven members was assigned and the park was consequently shut. Aman Singh, Anil Bhalerao, Ajay Kanojiya, Joaquim Naik, Omsi Para, Pawan Sharma and Ritik Jaiswal who are wildlife activists reached the location and examined the circumstances. The reptile was then safely rescued in 30 minutes under the supervision of the forest department and liaison with the range forest officer, Narendra Muthe.
Then the crocodile was taken to the Sanjay Gandhi National Park where, Dr Shailesh Pethe, the park’s veterinary surgeon medically examined the crocodile. The reptile was declared fit and active, ready to be put back into its natural habitat of Tulsi lake after the tagging. The team from RAWW will be examining the location of rescue to comprehend the way and reason of displacement.
In other developments, on Tuesday, fishermen found the carcass of a Baleen whale near Vasai’s Suruchi Bagh on the Benapatti coast. The carcass was then buried onshore after the examination of the cells.
