In Mumbai — the Financial Capital of the country — everything is unexpected, in the city that never sleeps whether it is accidents or the frequent bridge collapses that are taking place.
On Thursday, March 14, a large part of the bridge between platform number 1 of Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus station and the building of Times of India fell suddenly in the evening. In this accident, 6 people lost their lives and 33 were injured. But this is not the first time that Mumbaikars are witnessing such painful incident.
Three railway bridges have fallen in the last one and a half year in Mumbai.
Mumbai Local being the lifeline of Mumbaikars, millions of people travel via the local trains and on the respective footover bridges (FOB) and there is always a danger to their lives. In the last one-and-a-half year, due to bridge collapses, 29 people have died and hundreds of people have been injured.

However, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his condolence by tweeting
''Pained to hear about the FOB incident near TOI building in Mumbai. Spoke to BMC Commissioner and Mumbai police officials and instructed to ensure speedy relief efforts in coordination with RailMinIndia officials''
He further declared ₹5 lakh for the families of people who lost their lives while the injured will get ₹50,000. The injured have been shifted to Gokuldas Tejpal (GT) Hospital and the traffic has been diverted from Crawford Market and CST to P.Dmello and Kalbadevi Road.
