Cuffe Parade Metro Station To Have 192 Parking Slots

Director of Projects S.K. Gupta stated that it was not a part of the original plan, however, after receiving several requests from the residents, an area of 3,627 sq.m. is being built above the platform and concourse level where 192 cars can be parked.

In a first of its kind initiative, Cuffe Parade station of Metro 3 (Colaba-Bandra-Seepz) will have a dedicated parking slot for 192 cars. Director of Projects S.K. Gupta stated that it was not a part of the original plan, however, after receiving several requests from the residents, an area of 3,627 sq.m. is being build above the platform and concourse level where 192 cars can be parked.

The Mumbai Metro Railway Corporation (MMRC) will be appointing a private contractor to run the pay and park service at the Metro station. Talking about the same Secretary-General of the Cuffe Parade Residents stated that as almost every family in Cuffe Parade owns 2-3 cars on an average, they had requested the authorities to start parking facilities. The Cuffe Parade Metro station is exactly opposite Taj President Hotel and recently completed its 100 per cent tunnelling.

The Metro 3 line will comprise of 27 stations and is expected to be completed by December 2021. The excavation work has been completed for 13 stations i.e. Cuffe Parade, Vidhan Bhavan, Churchgate, Hutatma Chowk, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Science Museum, Siddhivinayak Temple, Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), Marol Naka, Sahar Road, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) Domestic, CSMIA International Airport, and Seepz. It recently completed its underground excavation in the Mithi river. This will be the second under-river metro rail tunnel in India after the tunnel underneath the Hooghly river on Kolkata Metro Line 2. 

Whereas, Mumbai Metro Railway Corporation (MMRC) still has to complete the work at stations including Kalbadevi, Girgaon, Grant Road, Mumbai Central, Mahalaxmi, Aacharya Atre Chowk, Worli, Dadar, Shitaladevi, Dharavi, BKC, Vidyanagari and Santacruz.
