The area that passes through Dadar-Prabhadevi-Parel is reportedly undergoing a green transformation which is touted to beautify the overcrowded area of South Mumbai.

According to reports, the civic body of Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) under the green mile project is to beautify the 1km stretch with pedestrian-friendly intersections, street furniture and signages, vertical gardens, shaded pathways using the space under the flyover for sporting activities and to celebrate local art and culture.

Moreover, the idea is to transform Senapati Bapat Marg into a world-class commercial street that will set a benchmark for street design in Mumbai. In addition, the developmental work had already started in December and is expected to be completed in May this year.

Meanwhile, the civic body has decided to create an additional 2,233 sq m of concrete footpath space due to the proximity to Dadar, Prabhadevi and Parel railway stations. At present, the footpath is 6,844 sq m long.

On the other hand, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had earlier informed that it is planning to complete the 1,350 km Delhi-Mumbai greenfield expressway by March 2022, according to a report released back on December 16. Moreover, the Maharashtra government is reportedly also working on two more greenfield expressways, the 300 km Ambala-Kotputli and 1,000 km Amritsar-Jamnagar.

Furthermore, the report added that the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is being built at a cost of INR 1 crore. However, the work on all the three developmental projects has gained momentum, after the outbreak of the coronavirus and the subsequent lockdown across the country.
