On Friday, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari conducted a two-day examination of the development of the 1380-km eight-lane Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Some say that it will help cut travel time through some cities from 24 hours to 12-12.5 hours.
The minister journeyed through Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat for two days to study the progress of the Rs 98,000cr project and it is planned to be done by March 2023.

From Delhi to Jaipur, Dausa to Lalsot, Vadodara to Ankleshwar which is the first phase, it is anticipated that it’ll be open to the public by March 2022. The expressway, on the other hand, will be done by March 2023. The project began in 2018 and the foundation stone was laid in 2019. It will showcase a spur to Jewar Airport and Jawaharlal Nehru Port to Mumbai by a spur in the city. It will ameliorate the network to prominent areas like Jaipur, Ajmer, Kishangarh, Kota, Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Vadodara, Ahmedabad and Surat. From the 1,380 km, contracts for over 1,200 km have been given and the work is under process. More than 15,000 hectares of land has been obtained through the states for the building of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.
The eight-lane expressway can be grown to a 12 lane on the traffic’s volume. It will be equipped with a range of amenities like restaurants, resorts, fuel stations and a food court amongst others. From a helicopter ambulance service, to planting of trees and an animal overpasses, many others features are included.
