India remained under lockdown for nearly three months due to the coronavirus pandemic and has initiated the unlocking process to allow businesses to operate. Many shops, market complexes and other businesses have been allowed to reopen. However, public places still remain close.

With the government initiating unlocking process at national and state, there is a demand to allow the reopening of national parks. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Gopal Shetty has appealed the Maharashtra government to allow jogging activity at Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Aarey Milk Colony.

People have approached Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray urging the state government to allow reopening the jogging trail at Sanjay Gandhi National Park and Aarey colony.

Shetty, BJP MP from North Mumbai, said that if the jogging activity is allowed in the morning and evening, it will definitely benefit people. The greenery in SGNP and Aarey will provide a healthy platform for people to strengthen their immunity amid the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Shetty has also written a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) to take a quick decision on the pending projects in his Lok Sabha constituency. Shetty is a member of parliament from North Mumbai.

Shetty has expressed displeasure over the poor condition of slums in his constituency. In his letter, the BJP MP has urged the Chief Executive of SRA to intervene and provide “pucca” or permanent house to the poor. The construction project under SRA, in North Mumbai, has been delayed.
