The most awaited recruitment procedure of Class IV workers that was stalled for more than three months has finally got a nod from the state government. Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Commissioner Ajoy Mehta has ordered the General Administration Department to begin the recruitment procedure of 1388 Class-IV workers. The BMC will declare the results on September 15, 2018.
Around 2.87 lakh applicants had applied for the posts of coolie, cemetery worker, room attendant, nanny and others. Of 2.87 lakh applicants, only 2.42 lakh appeared for the examination. Of which, 1.6 lakh candidates passed the examination by securing more than 50 per cent marks and around 1500 candidates passed it by securing 90 per cent marks.
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Bhai Girkar voice his opposition in Vidhan Parishad against the question paper, adding that the questions were difficult and asked to withdraw the recruitment. Likewise, the recruitment procedure was put on hold. However, 10 days ago, the state government wrote to the BMC to resume the recruitment procedure.

Likewise, MahaOnline Limited company that looks after the recruitment procedure has been asked to start the work, added Naik. He added that the list of candidates who have secured the job will be released on September 15, 2018.
Prior to this, the BMC had planned to announce the result in April but due to the stay order, it got delayed for three months.
