20-year-old dies as fire breaks out at a building in Bandstand

The Level-0 fire broke out at Bandra's Sea Springs Apartment on Thursday morning. While one woman was announced dead, another 38-year-old woman is being treated for the 90 per cent burn injuries.

In an incident on Thursday morning, a level-0 fire broke out on the top floor of a residential building in Bandstand, Bandra West. Reports state that the floor caught fire at 7:00 AM on the sixth floor of Bandra's Sea Springs Apartment, which is located diagonally opposite actor Shah Rukh Khan’s residence, Mannat.

As per preliminary information, one woman has passed away and some have faced injuries. The reason for the fire is unknown and the rescue team reached the spot immediately to control the situation. Four fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was doused.

The rescue team brought two women out of the building and they were immediately taken to Bhabha Hospital for treatment. A 20-year-old, Evana Morrice was announced dead and 38-year-old Sifra Jafari is being treated for the burn injuries. Doctors have stated that her condition is critical since she has faced 90 per cent burn.

Officials evacuated the building and respective officers are conducting a survey to identify the cause of the fire. More information regarding the incident is awaited.

The city witnessed two fires over the last two days. On Tuesday, March 18, 2020, an under-construction girls hostel caught fire at Nerul's DY Patil University, and further, a fire broke out in Mumbai's Sewri on Monday. No injuries and casualties were reported from both the events.
