Today, while the encroachment department was taking action against the unauthorized slum in the Bandra railway station (east) area, a fire broke out at one of the cottages. The fire brigade department is strongly trying to take control and put the fire off.

Garib Nagar is an unauthorized slum near the Bandra railway station area, in the east. The encroachment department of BMC started operations on Thursday afternoon against the slum. While the action was on, a cylinder blast took place in a hut. The fire immediately spread in the slum in front and created chaos among the crowd around.

This fire has caused huge damage to the ticket house and has increased with time. Owing to the condition of the slums and narrow lanes, fire brigades did not reach the spot on time.

In order to extinguish the fire, 16 fire engines, 8 water tanks, and 3 ambulances were rushed to the spot and extinguishing work began.
