Nine days ago, a fire broke out at a private plot in Aarey colony. The intensity of the fire was such that in less than three hours, the level of fire rose from level one to level three. Residents were of the opinion that some miscreants set the fire. When Mumbai Fire Brigade investigated the fire incident, they found out that the fire was caused deliberately.

Mumbai Live received the report which revealed shocking details and according to the report, the fire which was deliberately set, was not the first of its kind. Prior to this, in the span of 11 years, i.e. from 2007 to 2018, fire was set out 30 times. Save Aarey and Save Tree NGO members have claimed that concerned officials are shielding the miscreants.

Upon investigation, fire brigade officials found out that the area was not accessible for public yet the officials came across half-burnt tyres, bottles and plastics.

Of 30 fire incidents, 21 times level 1 fire was reported while one time, level three fire was reported. The area where the fire was set is close to Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP). Though it is private property, someone must be setting the fire to prevent the property from being a part of the jungle. Strict action should be taken against such acts,” Zoru Bathena, Member, Save Tree.
