On Thursday, December 9, a fire was reported near Mumbai’s Churchgate station subway owing to a short circuit that was promptly doused. With no injuries or a prominent incident, officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) stated that it was an electrical fire, stated reports.

The fire transpired near the station’s gate number 3 in front of the Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk in the afternoon.  Furthermore, no injuries were reported in the incident.

An official elaborated that the fire transpired in the civic authority demarcated section. With the fire being promptly extinguished, the subway pedestrian movement was normalized, mentioned accounts.

Based on narratives, two fire engines, as well as an ambulance, got to the spot in no time. Officials from the BMC stated that in the face of it, it seems like a pile of dry garbage caught fire that led to the mishap. Later, however, the official attributed the accident to a short circuit.

According to accounts, eyewitnesses witnessed the fire behind the subway causing a thick black smoke at the building’s south end. It is believed that a considerable number of railway officials had to get out of the building until the fire was extinguished.

A spokesperson from the Western Railways (WR) remarked that the fire erupted at the Churchgate south end next to the station building. The spokesperson added that the fire brigade came at 1.50 pm after which the fire was quickly brought under control. Adding that the fire occurred in the BMC area.
