After thousands of trees at Kalyan’s Mangrul were burnt down to the ground by land mafias near the surrounding areas, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has now decided to plant 5,000 saplings near Mantralaya. The decision to plant the saplings came after BMC was severely criticised by the State Government as well as the State Forest Department for the destruction of the trees.

However, the Forest Department has asked the municipal corporation to not just plant them but also raise them properly. The plantation will be conducted at Mantralaya’s Madam Cama Lane, B. Rajni Patel Lane, General Jagannath Bhosale Lane, Free Press Journal Lane, etc. which is expected to result into a lush lane of trees and various flowers.

The trees will consist of 3,000 attractive flowering plants and 2,000 ornamental plants. All these saplings will be developed in the municipal corporation’s nursery and once they are ready to be planted, they will be put along the lanes. Municipal Garden Superintendent Jitendra Pardeshi stated that the large trees in the area will also be painted with colors.

The saplings will consist of several flowers and plantations with a variety of colours. Also, in order to avoid further embarrassment, the municipal corporation will be hiring a team of professional gardeners to take care of the plantations at Mantralaya.
