Vikhroli, Mumbai -
If grit and determination are what it takes to be recruited by the Mumbai Police, these candidates seem to be taking it all on the chin.
The Maharashtra Police Recruitment drive for the post of 1717 constables in the state's police force is currently on at Vikhroli. The drive, that started on 29 March, has seen candidates pouring in from all districts of Maharashtra.
Estimates say nearly 6,000 youth have come to Mumbai to get tested for the recruitment. The drive includes rigorous physical examinations and endurance tests. The soaring mercury has not made things easier for them. To add to this, say eyewitnesses, the candidates have been spotted sleeping on the service road near the Eastern Express highway at Vikhroli.
Despite all the problems they are facing, the energy and the fire to serve their nation keeps them fit and fine.
