Gyms allowed to resume operations in Maharashtra from October 25

The state government allowed the gymnasiums and fitness centre across Maharashtra to resume operations on conditions of strictly adhering to the COVID-19 protocol to stop the spread of the virus.

The Maharashtra government is gradually initing the unlocking process of business activities under ‘Mission Begin Again’. With metro and monorail allowed to operate, the state government has finally given permission for the gyms to reopen from October 25. 

The gyms, however, will remain in the containment zones. The state government allowed the gymnasiums and fitness centre across Maharashtra to resume operations on conditions of strictly adhering to the COVID-19 protocol to stop the spread of the virus. 

It will be mandatory to wear masks and practice social distancing inside the gym. Moreover, thermal screening and sanitation will be essential. In a meeting with gym owners, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said that group activities will not be permitted inside the gym. 

As per the government’s instructions, disinfecting the gym premises every hours will be mandatory and health checks of trainers and staff should be done regularly. Thackeray said that there was a need to stay alert and avoid the spread of the coronavirus by following protocols in place.
