As the number of coronavirus cases is increasing in the state of Maharashtra, so is the rate at which the testing is being done. Earlier in Mumbai, the authorities had given a relaxation in the testing norms wherein Mumbaikars could get themselves tested for coronavirus in any of the 17 authorized private labs without a prescription.

According to a report in Times of India, Health minister Rajesh Tope is seeking approval from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) in order to start coronavirus testing labs in Kalyan-Dombivili, Bhiwandi-Nizampur, and Ulhasnagar. About 1,000 oxygen beds and 300 ICU beds will be arranged for in these areas in the next few days he said.  He also added that the state is seeking relaxation in the norms of plasma collection, which will make more blood banks to come forward and help. Plasma therapy has been found to be effective in treating patients with coronavirus.

The authorities have been extremely active in testing, camps had been set up for checking fever in areas like Borivali, Kandivali, and Dahisar. Sero survey was also conducted in some parts of Dahisar and in areas of Mira Bhayandar door to door surveys are taking place in order to identify possible cases of coronavirus. More than 14 lakh samples have been tested so far. 7,10,393 people are under home quarantine and more than 40 thousand people are under institutional quarantine.
