Construction of Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link to end by September 2022

India's longest sea bridge that will be connecting Mumbai to Navi Mumbai- The Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link recently launched its first girder in the presence of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray along with former MP Arwind Sawant. The project worth ₹17,843 crores is expected to end by September 2022. 

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) expects 49,100 vehicles to use the bridge by 2022. For cars, the toll between Sewri and Shivaji Nagar interchange is estimated to be ₹180 and another ₹60 between Shivaji Nagar and Chirle in Navi Mumbai.

Mumbaikars are also eager about the Santacruz-Chembur Link Road (SCLR) project. MMRDA authorities recently stated that both Link Road extension and the Bandra-Vakola elevated flyover will be completed by the end of 2020. As per reports, 45 per cent of the project is complete and the extension will be accessible to Mumbaikars by the end of this year. 

The project was introduced with an aim to reduce traffic congestion at Bandra Kurla Complex, which is one of the city's commercial hubs. The 3,500 metres long extension of Santacruz-Chembur Link Road, which will start from Kapadia junction and end at the Western Express Highway (WEH) and will reduce traffic congestion at Kurla

The Santacruz-Chembur Link Road is a ₹481 crores project which will be a four-lane flyover whereas, the 1,200 metres elevated BKC-Vakola road will have two lanes and is expected to cost ₹264 crores. Similarly, MMRDA is also building two flyovers— one from BKC to the Sea Link which will be 714 metres and the other 640 metres from the Sea Link to BKC— to decongest the arterial Kalanagar junction on the WEH and the BKC junction.
