As the fear of third wave of coronavirus and rise in the Omicron cases in Mumbai, the Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) imposed fresh curbs.

The civic body also issued guidelines for the New Year Celebrations in the city. Moreover, strict action will be taken against those establishments that flout the COVID-19 related guidelines during the New Year’s Eve.

However, with the government and the local authorities putting fresh restrictions regularly amid the festivity and increasing COVID-19 infection. Here is the compilation of all the SOPs released by the BMC and Mumbai Police in the city.

Here's what is allowed:

  • In a latest update, Mumbai Police prohibited citizens from visiting beaches, open grounds, sea faces, promenades, gardens, parks, or similar public places, from 5 pm to 5 am.
  • Restaurants and bars in the city can operate till 1.30 am.
  • Section 144 has been imposed by the Mumbai Police till January 15.
  • In marriages in enclosed or open spaces, the maximum number of attendees will be restricted to 50 people.
  • In gatherings, programs either social, cultural, political or religious, in enclosed or open spaces the maximum number of attendees will be restricted to 50 people.
  • Meanwhile, the maximum number of attendees will be restricted to 20 people in funerals.
  • Prior permission is must if a gathering with over 200 people is planned.
  • All parties in closed or open spaces in restaurants, hotels, bars, pubs, resorts and clubs have been prohibited.
  • Crowding at places in Mumbai such as Gateway of India, Marine Lines, Juhu Chowpatty, Girgaon Chowpatty amongst others should be avoided.
  • Full vaccination is mandatory of all employees working at public places or establishments as well as all attendees.

List of SOPs to be followed:

  • Cultural, religious, political events and weddings can be held in the presence of only 50 people.
  • 20 people have been allowed to attend the funeral.
  • A curfew has been imposed on the tourist spot. The local administration is allowed to impose strict restrictions that attract a large crowd of people such as beaches, open grounds, etc, the competent authority may as deemed appropriate, impose section 144.
  • Imposition of a night curfew from 9 pm to 6 am during this, there will be a ban on any assembly of people in groups of more than five in public places.
  • Any person contravening this order shall be punishable under section 188 of Indian Penal Code 1860 in addition to the penal provision under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 and National Disaster Management Act 2005 and other legal provisions as applicable.
  • Events will be permitted to be conducted with up to 50 per cent of the available seating capacity in closed halls and 25 per cent of the available capacity in open spaces, will people be allowed to attend.
  • Care should be undertaken to see that such locations aren't crowded and social distancing norms are followed with the utilization of masks as well as sanitisers.
  • Individuals above the age of 60 and those below 10 should refrain from stepping out of their homes as far as possible for safety and health reasons.
  • In public places like beaches, gardens and streets, citizens should ensure social distancing with the utilization of masks and sanitisers.
  • Cultural or religious events should not be conducted at the event of New Year and thus, processions shouldn't be taken out.
  • Since the majority of the citizens visit religious places on the first day of the new year, social distancing at such locations should be ensured. Moreover, it should be seen that crowding doesn't occur.
  • Rules in regards to noise pollution should be followed and fireworks shouldn't be bursted.
