Currently, more than 65,000 citizens are home quarantined in Mumbai, as per sources. This includes infected but asymptomatic as well as suspected coronavirus patients.

The effects of the second wave of the coronavirus in Mumbai began to increase from mid-February. As the number of active patients reached 92,000 in April, there was a shortage of beds in hospitals. Moreover, as many as 4,87,000 citizens were home quarantined till March 31. On April 10, the number reached 6,27,000.

Meanwhile, stricter restrictions, effective vaccinations led to a decrease in the number of COVID-19 patients. As a result, the number of home quarantine patients had come down to 40,000 by last month. However, the number of infected patients has been increasing over the past few days. Every day 400 to 450 infected patients are recorded across the city. On Saturday, 485 infected patients were found. At the same time, the number of home quarantine patients is 65,618.

On the other hand, the BMC has initiated 266 test centres in the city in order for the citizens to get themselves tested. Meanwhile, currently. there are 4,658 active patients in Mumbai. The average daily rate of patient growth is 0.06 per cent. Every day 400 to 450 infected patients are found in the city. However, the death rate of patients is very low.
