Amid the growing controversies surrounding the hijab row in Karnataka, Dilip Walse Patil, the Maharashtra Home Minister, has urged political parties against holding protests or hindering the peace for their vested interests.

Patil was quoted by reports elaborating on how it is inappropriate to conduct protests in the state over issues that have roots in some other states.

Based on accounts he remarked that it isn’t in the interest of the state as well as its people to stage protests. He reportedly elaborated on how he appeals to all political parties and organizations to cooperate on the same to ensure that there is peace in Maharashtra.

Patil believes that education has to be the main priority when a student goes to school or college. He is of the opinion that everyone must adhere to the rules issued by the concerned educational institutions.

News agency PTI quoted the minister elucidating on how the Maharashtra police are keeping a close tab while also undertaking steps to see to it that the condition remains normal in the state.

Earlier on Wednesday, February 9, Maharashtra cabinet minister Aaditya Thackeray stated that when there is a prescribed uniform in schools/colleges, it should be adhered to. Thackeray believes that only education should be the focus at centres of education and that religious or political issues should not be brought to educational institutions.

It has also been claimed that a signature campaign in support of the hijab was carried out in Madanpura and Bhiwandi in Mumbai amid the ongoing controversy.
