The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted an orange alert for rainfall in several parts of Maharashtra on Thursday, June 23, and directed them to be prepared for the next five days.
In addition, IMD’s regional meteorological department (RMC) has issued yellow alert, which indicates heavy to heavy rainfall, at isolated places for the next three days starting Thursday, June 23.
Mumbaikars on Wednesday night, June 22, witnessed moderate rainfall. However, the continuous showers brought the mercury down to less than 30 degrees Celsius, but the relative humidity has been high between 85-89 per cent.
As per the weather forecast, the minimum temperature recorded at IMD's Santacruz and Colaba was 25.4 and 26.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature was recorded at 32.7 and 31.2 degrees Celsius respectively.
It also forecast heavy rainfall in Raigad and Sindhudurg. Meanwhile, the RMC has been expecting Ratnagiri to experience light to moderate showers on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
The weather department has also predicted isolated heavy rainfall in the ghat areas of "Madhya Maharashtra" from Friday to Sunday.
Under the influence of an off-shore trough and strong westerly winds along the west coast in lower tropospheric levels, the IMD informed via a Tweet that isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan and Goa during the next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Vidarbha regions on June 23 and 24.
The IMD has four-colour coded alerts, namely green (no warning), yellow (watch and stay updated), orange (alert and be prepared) and red (warning).
