The city is experiencing a rise in temperature since the start of the week. On Monday, October 4, and Tuesday, October 5, the maximum temperature in the city touched 34.5 degrees Celcius, according to the weather officials.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)'s Santacruz observatory, during the last week, the temperature in the city was normal or below normal. However, the temperature is two points above normal since Monday.

On Tuesday, October 5, the night-time temperature of the city was 26 degrees which are above normal and witnessed heavy thunder and lightning activity between 7 PM to 8 PM. Several locations in the city experienced light to moderate rainfall.

Before October 15, it is unlikely that the withdrawal of rains will take place from Mumbai and the rest of the Konkan coast, says IMD officials. According to the IMD's seven-day forecast, Mumbai's daytime temperature is likely to rise as much as 37 degrees by Monday, October 11, while night-time temperature is likely to remain between 26-27 degrees.

Warning about the rising temperature, a meteorologist said that the temperature in Mumbai would be rising by a couple of degrees. It will be because of the delayed monsoon withdrawal that the heat will remain trapped and closer to the ground. Therefore, the relative humidity levels will go up, said the official.

On Wednesday, Oct 6, the city may experience moderate thundershowers, while between Thursday, Oct 7 and Friday, Oct 8, a thunderstorm with more intense rainfall might occur.
