Maharashtra to receive 4,000 more voting centres

After this, in 2014, the state government had established 91,329 voting centres and this year, the number of polling booths is set to reach near 96,000 voting centres

In order to boost votes and make voters aware across the state, the Maharashtra government will receive 4,000 more voting centres. Since the registration of voters is still ongoing, the number of voting centres can increase apart from the new voting centres as per the updated list.

As per records, there were 64,508 polling centres for the 2004 Lok Sabha elections. However, in 2009, the number increases to a total of 83,986 polling booths.

Further, in 2014, the state government had established 91,329 voting centres and this year, the number of polling booths is set to reach near 96,000. Amongst which, 55,814 will be set up in rural areas.

The polling centres will have basic facilities in order to assist the voters exercising their Right, which will include ramps for senior citizens, drinking water dispensers, toilets, electricity supply, separate doors for specially-abled voters, etc.
