According to the latest reports, the Palghar district administration has asked officials to offer an independent crematorium for the transgender community there in Maharashtra ensuring that they don't face any issue while performing the last rites of its members. 

Based on accounts, an order was issued last week by collector Dr Manik Gursal. He mentioned that the transgender community must not be differentiated from others in society. He reportedly assured them they will be accorded the requisite benefits in the many government schemes. 

Gursal added that the procedure to issue identity cards has commenced in order for the community to avail such benefits, stated narratives. Aseema Mittal, the sub-divisional officer remarked that they recently gave identification cards to 30 transgender people in the Dahanu taluka of the district.

Mittal was quoted by accounts elaborating on how there are more than 100 transgenders in the district and soon, all of them will be given ID cards.

On the other hand, Pawan Yadav (30) becomes the state's first transgender lawyer and second in India. Yadav resides with parents at Mumbai’s Goregaon and has vowed to give free legal support to the transgender community. Earlier in 2018, Sathyasri Sharmila became the first transgender lawyer in India to achieve the milestone from amongst the minority community of the country.
