Indian Railways integrates all helpline numbers to 139; Here's all you need to know

Now the railway passengers will not have to remember multiple numbers, instead, they just need to remember one number 139.  All queries and complaints will now be answered through this single helpline number.

The single helpline number will be based on an interactive voice response system. To seek help from railway authorities, passengers just need to give a call or SMS on the number 139. The integrated railway helpline number service would be available in 12 different languages.

In order to spread awareness among commuters, CR Chief PRO, Shivaji Sutar in a tweet shared the Indian Railways grievance helpline numbers like 182 for railway security, 138 for medical emergencies, have been discontinued. Indian Railways have converted 139 into a single helpline number for the convenience of passengers.

In December, Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal tweeted the news along with a video. The video showed that from January 1, 2020 for any information or complaints or help you need to just call or SMS on 139.


What railway passengers need to do in case of queries and complaints?

Railway passengers can just call on this single helpline number for all basic enquiries of train running and reservation-related like PNR status, ticket (general and Tatkal) availability, train arrival, departure, diverted and cancelled schedules, seat availability, ticket cancellation, fare, destination alert, wake-up call etc.

The integrated helpline number will assist passengers seeking help or information related to any basic train enquiries such as enquiries related to the train schedule, ticket bookings, PNR, fares, etc.

How to use Indian Railways integrated helpline number 139?

In order to seek help or information through the integrated helpline number, after dialling 139:

Press 1 for safety and medical emergencies

Press 2 for information related to train fares, PNR and ticket booking

Press 3 for lodging complaints related to catering services

Press 4 for general complaints

Press 5 for complaints related to corruption

Press 6 for information related to rail accidents

Press 9 to know the status of your registered complaints

Press * to seek call centre service
