Gujarat resident Yasha Thakkar was at Mojo's Bistro with her cousins, where she couldn't save her life and passed away on the spot.

In a tragic fire incident which took place at Kamala Mill’s One Above club, 14 people lost their lives and 12 were admitted with injuries. Among the names in the list of deceased was 22-year-old Yasha Thakkar who had come from Gujarat especially to celebrate New Year in Mumbai, with her loved ones. This was the first time she had come to Mumbai to celebrate New Year and was very excited.

On December 28, she along with cousins visited the Mojo’s Bistro for dinner. Before anyone could know, a fire broke out in the restaurant and started spreading across the hotel. Yasha’s cousin sister ran to the washroom to save her life but Yasha could not save her life and she died on the spot. Yasha’s parents have arrived in Mumbai.

The fire broke out at 1 Above restaurant at midnight and then spread to other eateries – Mojo’s Bistro and London Taxi Gastropub around 12:30 am. Six fire tenders, four engines, and one ambulance had reached the spot to rescue people.

The BMC had served notices to the owners of the club for encroaching the open space. Not once but thrice the notices were sent yet the owners did not budge which lead to the tragic fire incident which claimed 14 lives.
