KDMC imposes new lockdown guidelines for areas in Kalyan and Dombivli

As per the new guidelines, shops and offices will remain closed on the weekends. Restaurants will be allowed to function only for deliveries and no dine-in will be allowed.

Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in areas across Kalyan and Dombivli are on a rise, and observing the same, the Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has taken strict action against those who flout the norms suggested by the state government. 

KDMC, on Friday, March 26, 2021, imposed a new set of guidelines whereby shops and offices in the localities have been asked to remain closed over the weekends. Moreover, the vegetable shops in the locality will also function partly whereby only at 50 per cent will be allowed to operate. Essential services shall function as normal.

The information was shared by KDMC Commissioner Vijay Suryavanshi, and the decision was taken amidst the rising COVID-19 spread. 

Adding more, hotels and restaurants in the Kalyan-Dombivli region will only be allowed to function for deliveries, and people will not be allowed to dine-in over the weekends. 

The second wave of coronavirus infection has raised concerns both for the public and the state government. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has appealed to the citizens to support the government's decisions by following the suggestions. Masks have be worn at all times in public and social distancing has to be maintained to contain the spread of the virus. People have been asked to step out of the houses only if necessary.

Moreover, he has also stated that if the cases do not reduce over the next few days, the government will have no option but to consider a lockdown in Maharashtra. State Health Minister has confirmed the same and warned people about the consequences. 

As per the data released by the state health department, KDMC, on Friday, March 26, 2021, recorded a total of 825 new cases with three deaths. More than 390 people have been treated successfully from the infection taking the recovery count to over 66,300.
