The Maharashtra bandh called on Monday by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government resulted in mixed reactions from the citizens with shops and other establishments across many districts in Maharashtra being shut, highlighted reports. Local bus service operations by urban bodies also remained inaccessible for a while, but the local train services in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region operated without hindrances.

The bandh was called by the MVA government which comprise Shiv Sena, Congress and NCP to voice their discontent against the atrocities committed against farmers in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri.

According to reports, considerable trade associations in Mumbai, Nashik, Pune and Thane proclaimed their support to the bandh. In addition to this, retailers organizations that include the likes of the Federation of Retail Traders Welfare Association in Mumbai, Federation of Trade Association of Pune also supported the bandh, claimed accounts.

Based on narratives, an official stated that the state transport services stayed unbroken in the morning, whilst not many were on board. However, considerable city transport buses were non-operational since some unions of the employees supported the bandh.

In addition to this, workers from the Shiv Sena blocked highways both national and state in areas such as Kolhapur and Solapur in the morning, some were then detained by the authorities, highlighted reports.
