Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and State Finance Minister Ajit Pawar today, March 11, presented Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA)’s third budget worth INR 10,000 crores for the financial year 2022-23.

While dictating his budget speech, Pawar said that Maharashtra government will earmark INR 4 lakhs crore for agriculture in next three years which will help state to become $1 trillion economy.

With this, the state is headed towards being the first state that will have USD 1 trillion economies in the country.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray offered floral tributes at the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at the Vidhan Bhavan prior to the budget presentation.

In this budget, Ajit Pawar mentioned that the government will work on the five elements of development. The 5 elements of Panchasutri -- Agriculture, Health, Human resources, Transport and Industry.

The minister has spelt out Panchasutri of development (five-point development) with an outlay of INR 1,15,215 crores.

Here’s the highlight of Budget Session 2022:

  • State plans to spend INR 11,000 crores on health services in the next three years
  • 20 lakh farmers who paid loans on time to get INR 50,000 incentive
  • For upgrading the cataract surgeries in the state, INR 20 crores has been allocated
  • First class trauma care unit will be set up at Satara and other centres in the state. Each centre will have a capacity of 50 beds.
  • Govt also announces start up fund sof INR 100 crores for skill development, employment and innovation
  • For higher and technical education department INR 1,619 crores for 2022-23 in Maharashtra      
  • INR 100 crores has been allocated for a music school dedicated to Lata Mangeshkar at Kalina campus of Mumbai university
  • One innovation hub to be set up in every revenue division with an allocation of INR 500 crores
  • 3,000 new buses will be procured in the MSRTC
  • -Shivaji University Kolhapur’s Yashwantrao Chavan study centre to get Rs 1 crore
  • Maharashtra government reduces VAT on CNG from 13.5% to 3%       
  • Schools from the villages where the iconic and historic figures studied to get INR 1 crore each
  • Maharashtra government to issue ID cards and ration cards to all transgenders
  • Government to spend INR 250 crores on the medical check-up of all government employees over 40 years of age
  • In an attempt to promote the development of Marathi language INR 52 crores has been set aside                              
  • Special hospitals will be set up for police personnel
  • Provisions for AirportProposal to build a new airport at Gadchiroli, INR 1500 crore for Shirdi Airport, INR 100 crore fund for Ratnagiri Airport
  • INR 10,655 crores allocated as financial aid for those affected by natural calamities
  • For energy sector, INR 9,926 crore allocated in the budget 2022-23
  • Maharashtra government 8 mobile cancer diagnostic vehicles worth INR 8 crores
  • Ajit Pawar assures to complete 104 irrigation projects in next 2 years
  • INR 100 crores has been allocated for a music school dedicated to Lata Mangeshkar at Kalina campus of Mumbai university
  • In a first of its kind, schools from the villages where the iconic and historic figures studied to get INR 1 crore each.

An outlay of INR 23,888 crores is proposed for agriculture and allied sectors, INR 5,244 crores for the health sector, INR 46,667 crore for human development and human resources, INR 28,605 crores for transportation infrastructure, INR 10,111 crores for the development of Industry and Energy sectors.
