On Wednesday, July 6, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reprimanded officials in the aftermath of the death of a biker who succumbed after hitting a pothole on Ghodbunder Road at Kajupada, reports stated.

According to accounts, Shinde conducted a meeting with all six municipal corporations and the disaster management cell. He did so at the Thane Collectorate across the Thane district.

Based on narratives, in the meeting, Shinde asked the concerned authority responsible for the road to see to it that the potholes are repaired. Further, he instructed all the municipal officials from the district to review the roads.

Shinde was quoted in reports elaborating on how the officials must go on the field and survey the roads within their jurisdiction. This he believes will assist in controlling any disaster in a timely manner. He added that the concerned authorities must assess the potholes in their jurisdiction and fill the same with a cold mix.

It was on Tuesday, July 5 that Mohnish Khan (37), an electrician, living in Mumbra was on his way to a construction site in Mumbai since he had secured a contract there.

Accounts suggest that when he reached Kajupada on Ghodbunder Road, Khan hit a pothole and fell on the street. He then got crushed under the front wheels of an MSRTC bus.
