Maharashtra govt planning to start a mini-metro network in Nagpur, other cities in Vidharbha

Citizens in Nagpur and other important cities in Vidharbha can rejoice as the government has planned a mini-metro network connecting these localities. The details about the project were shared recently by Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari at the Bhoomipujan event of the NH project. 

Sharing more information, he said that the network would connect Nagpur with Yavatmal, Wadsa, Ramtek, Badnera, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, and Amravati in the Vidarbha region within the next one and half years.

The aim of the project is to offer quick and comfortable travel option in these areas thereby enhance the inter-district connectivity. Officials are working towards implementing the same private partnerships. Moreover, the government has also planned to make the commute affordable on the mini-metro which as per the current plan, will comprise of eight coaches, of which two will be business class and six will be marked as economy class. 

The fare for the same will be similar to the bus rates and this will ensure every citizen can make the most of the mini-metro.

Over the last several years, Minister Gadkari has been focusing on the developing the infrastructure across Maharashtra thereby improve the connectivity across the regions. Officials believe that once this project is implemented, the connectivity will help several businessmen, traders, etc.
