Escalator moves in the wrong direction at Thane station, leaves five people injured

An eyewitness said that the escalator abruptly shut and before anybody understood something, it started moving in the opposite direction suddenly.

Five people were injured due to technical failure in the escalator located at Thane railway station. The incident took place on Friday evening, at platform number one around 8:00 pm. Eyewitnesses have said that the escalator suddenly started moving in the opposite direction, injuring to five people. Fortunately, a bystander avoided what could have been a major accident by pressing the Emergency button.

However, the railways denied that the escalator started moving in the opposite direction. Further, it is said that the escalator abruptly shut and before anybody understood something, it started moving in the opposite direction.

Along with this, many passengers also accused the administration of not maintaining the escalator and complained that the same does not work at least for 15 days in a month. The officials are currently investigating the matter.
