The MHADA has decided to construct a hostel for old age and working women along with home construction in 'MMR Growth Hub' keeping its social commitment. This has been included in the draft plan of eight lakh houses in the 'Growth Hub'. According to the plan, the Mumbai division of MHADA will build three old age homes and seven hostels for working women in Mumbai.


Also, Konkan Mandal will construct two old age homes and six hostels for working women in Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). Hostels will be constructed according to the income group and five star facilities like swimming pool, gymnasium will be provided in the hostel for working women of higher income group.


As per the recommendation of NITI Aayog, Mumbai and Mumbai Metropolitan Region will be developed as a 'Growth Hub'. Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has prepared its plan. A target of 30 lakh houses has been set in this 'Growth Hub'. MHADA has been entrusted with the responsibility of constructing four lakh houses out of these 30 lakhs.

After receiving this responsibility, MHADA has formed a special committee and prepared a draft plan for this. According to this plan, MHADA has set a target of construction of 8 lakh houses instead of 4 lakh. A large number of women come not only from the state but also from across the country and abroad for employment in Mumbai. At that time they will be provided with proper accommodation.


On the other hand, MHADA has decided to build an old age home and a hostel for working women in the 'Growth Hub' to solve the problem of shelter for the elderly. Importantly, reputed and leading companies in the field will be appointed to run the hostels so that these hostels are run properly.
