Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Iqbal Singh Chahal in an announcement on Tuesday stated that monthly railway passes that will be applicable from August 15, will be issued from Wednesday, August 11, 7 am onwards, cite reports.

Considering that making a mobile app and the online procedure may require time, the offline procedure will commence tomorrow to see to it that inconvenience isn’t caused to the locals, said the chief. The offline process will be in force till further notice.

According to reports, he elucidated the commencement of the offline issuing process from tomorrow at 53 railway stations with the BMC’s jurisdiction, these will comprise stations at the Central, Harbour and Western lines. And at 109 railway stations in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR), which include the adjoining cities.

Citizens whose 14 days after the second jab has been completed, with the hard copy of their final vaccination certificate can go to the railway station with a photo identity. People need to have all documents to gain entry.

At the ticket window, the BMC or concerned authority have put help desks which will be operational from 7 am to 11 pm.

The staff at the help desk will check the authenticity of the documents and on verification will stamp the documents. The stamped documents can then be shown at the ticket window where monthly passes will be given. It is reaffirmed that only those who are fully vaccinated will be permitted to travel by the locals.

With the significant population in the region, the number of ticket windows and help desks will be the same. Since the facility is operational for a considerable time with the avenue to go to the nearest railway station, the authorities have appealed to people to refrain from crowding.

Additionally, strict action will be taken against those who showcase false documents.

It is important to note that those in the essential services category can travel by locals irrespective of vaccination.

Nodal Officers are also appointed by the BMC for the smooth functioning of the process.
