This came after multiple complaints about passengers being overcharged for rapid RT-PCR tests at Mumbai Airport came to the state health department.
Last week, Health Minister Rajesh Tope had asked IRS officer Dr Sudhakar Shinde to regulate prices of the Rapid RT-PCR tests at the Mumbai International Airport.
Besides, the Ministry of Civil Aviation in its office memorandum stated that from December 20, all international travellers from 'at-risk' countries, arriving at airports in Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad will have to mandatorily prebook an RT-PCR test. The decision was taken to avoid the passenger rush at the airport.
Apart from this, after the Omicron-related norms came into force last week in Maharashtra, many passengers from “at-risk” countries coming to Mumbai have been choosing to do the rapid test.
