The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has made available a WhatsApp chatbot number 8169681697 to resolve the complaints made regarding the piles of garbage in public places in Mumbai, and to register complaints or suggestions regarding the garbage. Complaints about solid waste made through this number will be resolved. The service will be operational from Monday, June 5 in observance of Environment Day.

Through the concept of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, direct contact services were provided to citizens to make solid waste management more effective in Mumbai. Accordingly, under the guidance of the BMC Commissioner and Administrator Iqbal Singh Chahal, Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Ashish Sharma, and on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner (Solid Waste Management) Chanda Jadhav, the Solid Waste Management Department has made this new WhatsApp chatbot facility available to the citizens. This service will be operational from Monday, June 5, 2023 in observance of Environment Day.

On this number, citizens can make complaints about not picking up garbage, not cleaning the road and picking up dead animals etc. directly with a photograph. Citizens must send the photograph, address / GPS location of the place along with the complaint. After this complaint is registered on WhatsApp chatbot 8169681697, it will go directly to the concerned department. This facility will reduce the time required for redressal of complaints. Similarly, the concerned solid waste management officer will redress the complaint within the stipulated time and upload the photograph of the place.
