Mumbaikars woke up to a chilly morning on Tuesday, December 9, as the minimum temperature dropped to nearly 16 degrees Celsius. This marks the lowest reading since December 4 and signals the onset of a colder spell in the city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD)’s Santacruz observatory recorded the minimum temperature of 16.5 degrees Celsius, whereas the Colaba observatory recorded the minimum temperature of 21.7 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has forecast a significant drop in temperatures this week until December 13. It further stated that nights and early mornings will feel colder, while daytime highs remain slightly above normal.

Mumbai also saw its coldest November day in over a decade on November 30 as the minimum temperature dipped to 15.7 degrees Celsius in the suburbs, marking a drop of six degrees in a single day.
