Mumbai: COVID-19 Curbs Extended Till Dec 31, 25% Capacity Permitted At Outdoor Events

All people travelling into Maharashtra should either be fully vaccinated or have an RT-PCR test valid for a duration of 72 hours.

On Tuesday, December 14, the Dy. Commissioner of Police (Operations) and Executive Magistrate Greater Mumbai, Chaitanya S issued an order, wherein the COVID-19 restrictions in Greater Mumbai were extended till December 31.

  • By means of this order, COVID-19 appropriate behaviour is to be followed by all.
  • All people connected with the organization of any program, event, as well as service providers and participants, visitors, guests and customers should be fully vaccinated against coronavirus.
  • Any shop, establishment, mall, event, gathering etc must be attended by fully vaccinated people. All visitors, customers for such places shall also be fully vaccinated.
  • All public transport can only be used by those fully vaccinated.
  • All people travelling into Maharashtra should either be fully vaccinated or have an RT-PCR test valid for a duration of 72 hours.

In case of any event, program, activity, gathering:

  • In a closed space: people up to 50 per cent of the capacity will be allowed.
  • In an open space: people up to 25 per cent of the capacity will be allowed.
  • If the aggregate number of people present exceeds 1,000, the local disaster management authority will have to be informed.

The above orders will come into force in areas under the control of the Commissioner of Police, Greater Mumbai from Thursday, December 16 and will remain in force till December 31.

Moreover, news agency ANI reported that section 144 CrPC has been imposed in Mumbai up to midnight on New Year's eve in light of the increase in Omicron cases in the city

Anyone contravening this order will be punishable under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code. In addition to the penal provision under the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 and National Disaster Management Act 2005, as well as other legal provisions as applicable.
