Incidents of fire in long-distance trains are happening now and then and as a solution, fire safety is being increased in the trains. Central Railway has installed fire detectors and fire extinguishing systems in long distance non-air-conditioned coaches for the safety of passengers. Also, installation of fire protection systems in pantry cars, power cars, air-conditioned coaches is going on at a fast pace.


Recently, while Falaknuma Express was passing through Yadadri district in Telangana, three coaches of the express caught fire. The train was immediately stopped near Bommanahalli village and the fire was extinguished. To prevent such incidents, the Central Railway has decided to speed up the installation of fire detection and extinguishing systems in the coaches of all its trains. Central Railway has so far installed this system in all non-air-conditioned coaches of long-distance trains. Also, this system has been installed in 50 pantry cars and the process of installing the system in 2 pantry cars is currently going on. Also, out of 137 power cars, only 6 cars are yet to have this system installed. Along with this, in this financial year, fire detection and extinguishing systems have been installed in 24 air-conditioned coaches of long-distance trains and this work is going on in more coaches, informed the official of Central Railway.

Fire safety is being enhanced to enhance the safety of passengers of Central Railway, to ensure safe journey of passengers and to reduce the risk of fire incidents, said Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway, Dr. Shivraj Manaspure.
