The Mumbai police have been winning citizens’ heart with their fun and quirky posts on social media. As people gear up to welcome 2021, the city police on Thursday morning, December 31, posted a meme portraying the digital version of Hum Saath Saath Hai, urging the citizens to stay indoors ahead of the New Year’s Eve during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

“A B C D E F G H I J K L M N O P Q R S T U V W X Y Z, Ghar Pe Raho! Sing along the safety song,” tweeted the Mumbai Police with a picture of modern era's Hum Saath Saath Hai family on a video conference call, which is considered to be a new normal.

The post garnered praise from Twitteraties, who appreciated the police for their taste in music. Moreover, the city police's Twitter handle recently crossed the five million followers mark.

The city police, in the past, has adopted unique ways to appeal to citizens to follow the lockdown, which has been in place since March.

Besides, the Mumbai police on Wednesday, December 30 announced a slew of restrictions on gatherings and celebrations on the New Year's eve in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a press release issued late in the night, the police pointed out that the Maharashtra government has already issued guidelines related to New Year's eve and called for low-key celebrations.

A night curfew is in place, prohibiting gathering of five or more persons between 11 pm and 6 am, it said.

Gatherings in restaurants, bars and pubs will not be allowed post-11 pm, the police said, adding loudspeaker/DJ music beyond permissible decibel limit and fireworks are also prohibited.
