Mumbai Police's Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) organized a large-scale 'Drugs Free Mumbai' awareness campaign on Sunday, July 12, covering more than 100 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools and reaching over 4,000 students through simultaneous online sessions.

The initiative aimed to educate students about the harmful effects of drug abuse and encourage them to make informed, responsible choices.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Pournima Chougule Shringi addressed the students, urging them to remain alert to the dangers of substance abuse and avoid situations that could lead to addiction.

Psychiatrist Dr. Nilesh Vasant Mohite spoke about the physical, psychological, and emotional impact of narcotics, explaining how drug addiction can affect an individual's health, relationships, and future.

Specialist Akshay Kumar S. Shet encouraged students to adopt healthy lifestyles and play an active role in guiding friends away from drugs and towards positive choices.

During the sessions, students were also informed about the social and legal consequences of drug abuse, highlighting the importance of staying informed and seeking help when needed.

Mumbai Police said the campaign reflects its continued commitment to tackling the drug menace by combining strict enforcement against narcotics with sustained public awareness initiatives. The police also appealed to citizens to support the mission by reporting any information related to the sale, trafficking, or consumption of illegal drugs.
