The Mumbai Police, have ensured high-security arrangement for Tuesday, September 1, the last day of Ganesh Chaturthi. 35,000 policemen are to be deployed in Mumbai, along with 5,000 CCTV cameras which are to monitor the immersion process of Lord Ganesha.

Moreover, a general high alert has been sent across the city and all officers have been asked to remain vigilant. The police have appealed to citizens to not unnecessarily go to immersion points.

This year, the people of Mumbai celebrated the Ganeshotsav in a low-key manner amidst the outbreak of the coronavirus. Now, in order to avoid chaos on the last day of the festival, nearly 1,500 men from the special units and side branches such as crime branches, local arms police, Economic Offenses Wing, special branch and protection and security branch will be helping local police stations maintain law and order in the respective areas

This year, the mandals were asked to limit the size of the idols to four feet and domestic Ganesha two feet. Moreover, 167 artificial immersion sites have been set up in a bid to prevent congestion during the day of immersion. Moreover, the police have appealed to the citizens not to crowd the roads and to observe social distance in view of the pandemic. Also, Coast Guard and Navy boats will also be deployed as a precautionary measure.
